Research question/goal:

The project focuses on the impact of the limited expansion which the European Union and NATO approved in 1997 on the foreign policy orientation in Belarus, Poland, the Slovak Republic and Ukraine. It aims to test the common assumption that regional cooperation can serve as an instrument to avoid a renewed division through the European Continent. The projects also investigated whether there are any relevant actors in these four states which would consider Moscow a viable alternative to Brussels as a centre of integration.
