Das Netzwerk will durch internationale und interdisziplinäre Kooperation die vergleichende Forschung zu Lebensqualität und sozialer Entwicklung in den gegenwärtigen und zukünftigen Mitgliedsländern der EU verbessern. Interdisziplinär zusammengesetzte Teams (Ökonomen, politische Wissenschaftler und Soziologen) mit Mitgliedern aus jedem Institut untersuchen die folgenden thematischen Schwerpunkte:

  1. Wandel im Arbeitsleben und seine Folgen (Koordinator: Duncan Gallie)
  2. Einkommensungleichheit, Armut und Lebensstildeprivation (Koordinator: Brian Nolan)
  3. Intergenerationale Vererbung von Ungleichheit bei Individuen und sozio-ökonomischen Gruppen (Koordinator: Walter Müller)
  4. Wandel im Familienleben (Koordinator: Jan O. Jonsson)
  5. Soziale Integration und soziale Kohäsion (Koordinator: Roxane Silberman)
